Advanced Gymnastics Intensive 2017: July 17-21
When: From 9:00am-3:00pm, July 17th – July 21st, 2017.
Who: The Intensive is for children currently in the Advanced Gymnastics Program or those students invited this May to try out for next year’s program. This intensive is designed to challenge advanced gymnastics skills and will be a strenuous workout.
What: The focus will be to work advanced level gymnastics skills both as an individual and as a team, increasing strength and flexibility, cross-training, drilling basics, and creating a group routine to showcase floor skills, rhythm and timing, and teamwork.
Intensive Tuition: Tuition for the full week is $525, and includes a leotard and t-shirt. Should a family choose to cancel, there is a policy of no refunds but the student would still receive their t-shirt and leotard. Siblings receive a 10% tuition discount. Payment plans are available. Contact us for more information.
Media Release: Participation in this intensive requires a signed media release form, as we will take pictures throughout the week and film the showcase at the end of the week.
Design: It is not possible for a camper to participate in only part of the week (like in Sports or Dance Camp), as campers will work all week long on their team showcase performance.
What to Bring: Every camper will get a t-shirt and leotard for wearing during the week. Campers should wear both each day. Each camper should bring clothes for outdoor activities, including tennis shoes. Every camper should bring a nut-free snack and nut-free lunch.
Registration: Sign up via email, phone, or in person. Enrollment in this camp requires participation in the entire week. Registration will close Monday June 5, 2017 so that apparel may be ordered to arrive in time.
Extended Care: AM care available from 8am-9am. $8.00/child. PM care available until 5:30pm. $15/child.

Check-in & Check-out: Guardians must check students in daily, filling out emergency contact information, making sure that coaches know all relevant allergy information, and designating all persons eligible to pick their camper up (photo ID will be checked at time of pick-up). Campers will spend check-in time watching videos about upper level gymnastics moves, learning names and trivia with their coaches. Check-out will occur right at the end of flexibility time, so campers will be focusing on challenging stretches like the splits, pancake, and pike.
Conditioning: We start each intensive day with conditioning exercises to get the body warmed up and make campers stronger! Every day we do conditioning at a different gymnastics apparatus to keep the muscles and mind challenged and having fun!
Snack and Lunch: Campers need fuel! They bring a peanut and nut-free snack and peanut and nut-free lunch with them each day.
Gymnastics Class: Every day we spend an hour in class. We visit two gymnastics apparatus each day, visiting all apparatus at least once over the course of the week. Coaches will adapt for each gymnast’s particular skill level, so each athlete will be challenged, no matter their age or group.
Open Gym: Gymnasts get free time in the gymnastics center, for work or play. They decide!
CT (Cross-Training): Every day we spend an hour out doing some athletic activity. It’s not gymnastics, but it’s good for the body to work its muscles in other ways to keep fit and have fun.
Technique: Gymnastics is full of fancy flips and tricks, but all that fancy won’t look so fancy if we forget about the small stuff! Technique is a time to focus on the details, not just what you’re doing, but HOW you are executing your tricks.
Showcase: The highlight of camp! Campers will work together to pick a theme, choose music, and choreograph a group floor routine. Coaches will facilitate, but campers will be the creators! They’ll work on it all week, and then perform it for friends and family on Friday at 3:00!
Skill Drills: Back to basics! We spend a half hour doing the most basic gymnastics floor skills over and over and over and over. Practice makes perfect!
Flexibility: Gymnasts need to be flexible in order to do upper level tricks well. We alternate each day between active stretching exercises (engaging muscles in their range of motion) and passive stretching (holding still in a position, resting in a stretch).
